A 35-year-old Ocala man was arrested a month after he allegedly exposed himself and masturbated in front of a woman at a local motel.
On July 30, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the Royal Inn located at 2900 S Pine Avenue in Ocala in reference to a man, later identified as Ryan Keith Garbula, who had allegedly exposed his genitalia, according to the arrest report.
A female victim told the deputy that she was sitting in a chair outside of her room when she saw a man, Garbula, who was “yelling and screaming and acting crazy” outside of his room. She alleged that Garbula then faced her, pulled his pants down, grabbed his penis, and began masturbating.
According to the victim’s statement, she went to the motel’s front office and reported the incident to staff. She then returned to the chair and sat down outside of her room.
The victim advised that Garbula was still “screaming” and “acting erratic” outside his room. He then walked closer to the victim before allegedly pulling his pants down and masturbating again. The deputy noted in the report that the victim was close enough to Garbula during the incident that she could “see his pubic hair.”
When Garbula eventually pulled up his pants, the victim alleged that he “turned around and smacked his butt.”
During the incident, the victim advised that she was on a FaceTime call with a male witness. At one point, she turned the camera toward Garbula, and the witness told the deputy that he could see that Garbula was masturbating.
A second deputy arrived at the motel, and Garbula ran into his room. He refused to come out and speak with the deputies.
The report stated that at around 3:55 p.m. on July 30, Garbula called 911 in reference to a “medical complaint involving drug usage.” Marion County Fire Rescue personnel arrived on scene and took him to a local hospital.
While at the hospital, a deputy made contact with Garbula. After being read his Miranda rights, Garbula allegedly admitted that he “took all of his clothes off” outside of his motel room. He then stated that he “grabbed his penis” and “danced in the sunlight,” according to the report.
A warrant was issued for Garbula’s arrest on July 31. According to MCSO, Garbula was located, arrested, and transported to Marion County Jail on Monday, September 2.
Garbula is currently being held at the jail without bond. He is being charged with indecent exposure of sexual organs.
A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
