I-75 northbound, southbound lanes closing for paving

Northbound and southbound lanes along a portion of Interstate 75 will close each evening this week as crews work on paving the highway.

The Florida Department of Transportation is advising motorists of rotating closures along I-75 that began on Tuesday, September 3 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next morning. The closures will take place each evenings through Friday, September 7.

The roadwork is part of FDOT project 443170-1, which calls for the resurfacing of I-75 in Marion County from the Sumter County Line to State Road 200.

On Tuesday evening, an onramp from State Road 200 to I-75 was also closed for roadwork.

The cost of the improvements to I-75 in Marion County is estimated to be around $28.4 million. That total does not include the work being done at the interchanges.

The resurfacing project for I-75 in Marion County is estimated to be complete next Spring.
