The fatal crash occurred shortly after 1:45 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, near the intersection of S Orange Blossom Trail and La Quinta Drive in Orlando.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a 42-year-old Ocala man was traveling southbound on Orange Blossom Trail, in the center lane, on a 2008 Yamaha XVS650 motorcycle.
When the motorcyclist approached the intersection of La Quinta Drive, an electric scooter being ridden by a 45-year-old Orlando man traveled eastbound, directly in the path of the motorcycle. As a result, the front of the motorcycle struck the scooter.
An FHP trooper noted in the report that the scooter was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident.
