To the Editor:
I agree wholeheartedly that developers and our town planning teams need to work together to focus on the impacts of more people, houses, and traffic to existing Ocala neighborhoods.
The traffic alone on Highway 484 near the Belleview exits/on ramps to I-75 is a nightmare!
I work 6 miles East of my home. Most days, my travel time to work is 30 minutes. Going home is a crap-shoot. It can take me between 20 to 90 minutes to drive West through traffic.
I see people blocking intersections, driving down center lanes outlined with traffic barrels, and just making horribly unsafe decisions. This has been going on for over two years, and while road improvements are underway, and have been for some time; the situation will not go away because of more traffic, more people, more housing developments and the like.
Wake up, Ocala residents, and demand better future planning from your elected officials.
