James Herbert Brown was born July 3, 1944, in Perry, FL, to his young, biological parents Thelma Stibbons and Isaac Rollings, Jr. He was later adopted and raised by his Great Aunt, Mary Brown and her husband, Herbert.
James graduated High School in 1962 from Howard High in Ocala, FL. His collegiate aspiration to attend Morehouse College was stripped when Mary died during his senior year in high school. Thus, he attended Community and Technical Colleges in Ocala, FL earning three different Associate degrees in Business, Programming and Computer Science.
James spent 20 years in banking as a programmer. He retired as Assistant Vice President, Data Processing at The First F.A.
James was a member of Amvets and the RAFMAN Club in Orlando. He was also an active Senior at the Barbara Washington/Mary Sue Rich Adult Activity Center where he was the ‘life of the party’. He enjoyed taking trips, exercising, bowling, playing spades and just sitting and chatting it up with his friends.
James was preceded in death by both sets of parents: Thelma Stibbons Davis, Isaac Rollings, Jr., Herbert and Mary Brown, and his step-father, Timothy Davis.
He was also preceded in death by both of his Beloved sons; Christopher Rie’mann Brown and Herbert Eugene Brown. And his brothers Jimmy, Ronnie and Donnie Rollings
On September 7, 2024.
God called James home leaving his friends and family with many fond, loving memories. Those left to hold dear to treasured memories are His loving wife, Melinda Fleming Brown Daughters: Natasha Tompkins (Dennis), Malika Brown-Patterson (Kenneth), Sheryl Walker, and Denise Smith; Son: Kevin Walker; Sister: Cynthia Davis Tillman; Brothers: Billy Rollings, John Rollings (Vanessa), Mike Rollings, and Timthel Davis Granddaughters: Nichole, Kaiya, Kamila, Brielle and Carlynda; Grandsons: David, Montez, and Malachi Great Granddaughter: Alora; a lifelong confidante, friend, and brother; Leroy Rodgers; another lifelong friend, Gloria Giles McCain, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
