Overnight lane closures along stretches of Interstate 75 will continue through the week as road crews add friction course and work to conduct a design study.

The Florida Department of Transportation is advising motorists to expect northbound and southbound lane closures along I-75 beginning Sunday night.

According to FDOT, there will be an inside lane closure at the County Road 462 overpass beginning Sunday, September 15, at 9 p.m., and continuing through 6 a.m. each night through Thursday, September 19.

A left lane closure at the State Road 44 on-ramp onto I-75 will also be closed beginning Tuesday, September 16, through 6 a.m. on Thursday, September 19.

Both of these two closures are related to the boring for an I-75 Planning, Design, and Engineering study.

Additionally, periodic closures will occur each night from Sunday, September 15, through Friday, September 20, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., in the northbound and southbound lanes for the addition of friction course.

Last weekend, partial nighttime lane closures began along I-75 just south of exit 350.

The closures are part of project 443170-1, which calls for the resurfacing of I-75 from the Sumter County line to State Road 200. That project is expected to be complete by next Spring and will cost FDOT an estimated $28.4 million.
