The Ocala City Council approved a request from the owners of The Yard Stop on Tuesday to rezone a 9.1-acre site in northwest Ocala, clearing the way for a new home garden and hobby farm equipment sales facility.
The rezoning request was approved during the council’s regular meeting on Tuesday, September 17, at Ocala City Hall.
The property is located at 240 SW 46th Avenue and is owned by CR 462 Property, LLC, a company that is registered to Jason Lyons and Richard Lampen. The approval changes the zoning from community business (B-2) to light industrial (M-1).
According to state corporate records, Lyons and Lampen are owners of The Yard Stop, which operates multiple locations in the tri-county area.
The 9.10-acre site is located just south of W State Road 40, adjacent to SW 46th Avenue. It was annexed into the city in 2000 and has remained heavily wooded and undeveloped for over two decades.
The site is located next to several others that are currently under industrial or heavy business use, including the Costco logistics center.
According to city records, a previously approved site plan associated with the B-2 zoning is now invalid and a new conceptual plan has not yet been submitted for the property.
In August, the Ocala Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the rezoning change.
No additional details have been made available regarding the proposed facility, including whether or not it will be another establishment in The Yard Stop brand.
