Ocala-News.com readers have shared several photos showing the damage caused throughout Marion County by Hurricane Helene.
Those photos show cars, homes, and fences all damaged by trees that were downed by Hurricane Helene, which reached over 140 mph maximum sustained winds at its peak.
Mollie Baxter reported that a tree fell on top of multiple cars parked at the Brenton Woods Condominiums in northeast Ocala after it was uprooted by the strong winds.
Baxter shared video showing the roots of the tree and at least two cars that were crushed.
Stephanie Trujillo reported that a tree was downed on top of her parent’s fence near the intersection of Maricamp Road and Baseline Road in southeast Ocala.
Denise M. shared a photo of a large limb that hit her house in southeast Ocala, damaging one of their solar tubes.
Nina Jones reported a tree downed near her property on NW 95th Street in Anthony.
In the hours since it passed through Florida, the hurricane has since been downgraded to a tropical storm.
As of 8 a.m., the National Hurricane Center reports that Tropical Storm Helene has maximum sustained winds of 60 mph and is currently 80 mile east-northeast of Atlanta, Georgia.
It is approximately 35 miles south-southwest of Clemson, South Carolina.
Ocala-News.com reported earlier Friday that at least 40,000 customers were still without power throughout the area.
As of 8:30 a.m., there are still tens of thousands of customers without power, according to outage maps from the four major utility companies that serve Ocala.
Ocala Electric Utility shows that approximately 7,180 customers are still without power as of 8:30 a.m.
Utility crews have been working since late last night to restore power throughout Ocala and Marion County.
