Eugene John Van Der Zee, peacefully departed this world at the age of 88 on September 24 in Ocala, FL.
Gene was not only a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather but also a remarkable individual who left his mark on his family and community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sherron (Hockney) Van Der Zee; his son, Mark Eugene Van Der Zee; and his two daughters, Sheryl Lynn Morasch and Linda Sue Reindl, along with six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy.
A proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Gene dedicated his professional life to serving others as a pharmacist in Southeastern Wisconsin. His commitment to the healthcare profession extended beyond his career, as he continued to provide relief pharmacy services in northern Wisconsin, working in the community continuing to share his knowledge and expertise.
Gene’s spirit of service was not limited to his profession; he was a loyal member of the Lions Club, where he took on various leadership roles, actively supporting community initiatives and projects. His dedication to making a difference in the lives of those around him exemplified the core values of compassion and generosity. Beyond his professional and community contributions, Gene had a remarkable talent for building and repairing.
He was known for his ability to tackle any home project, demonstrating a hands-on approach and a deep-seated love for creating and fixing things. This skill not only enriched his own life but also inspired those around him to appreciate the value of hard work and creativity. He will be deeply missed.
