To the Editor:
The letter of Sep. 25 attacking the military service of Tim Walz is a total misrepresentation of the facts.
Walz filed papers initiating the process to retire from his military service several months before his unit was notified that it may in the future be deployed. And it was several months after that that notice was given that the unit’s deployment was pending. The claim of cowardice is ludicrous.
Regarding the claim of “stolen valor,” usually applicable when someone falsely claims to have served in the military, sergeant major Walz performed the duties of command sergeant Major for some months before retiring. The claim of stolen valor is, obviously, ludicrous as well.
These claims intended to besmirch the reputation of Tim Walz are among the many Trump supporters have thrown against the wall and discovered to their chagrin that they’ve failed to stick.
