To the Editor:

I can, on both hands, think of better ways for $300,000 to be spent instead of on a Fourth of July drone show.

There are so many roads that are in disrepair that our penny tax hasn’t fixed. That money could be spent in infrastructure to finally put power lines below ground to limit the number of downed power lines during storms.

Our schools need more teachers, and those teachers need to be paid better and have more resources to assist our children who are going to one day be leading this country.

Putting that money towards homelessness would help so many people who genuinely need help getting off the streets and into permanent housing, especially the numerous homeless vets that are in and around Ocala.

Why spend $300k on drones when we could do something that would actually help our communities instead of making sure we have 15 minutes of entertainment once per year?
