Law enforcement authorities have shared a photo of a vehicle that they say was responsible for a hit-and-run accident in Marion County on Wednesday left a 12-year-old girl injured.

The Florida Highway Patrol provided a photo of the suspected vehicle responsible for the crash that occurred near the intersection of SE 36th Avenue and SE 107th Place in Belleview on Wednesday, November 6, shortly after 4:10 p.m.

The white pickup truck, which may be a Ram, was pulling a trailer with lawn care equipment when it struck the girl.

According to a report from FHP, the 12-year-old girl was walking southbound on the east shoulder of SE 36th Avenue (County Road 467), south of the SE 107th Place intersection.

The truck was heading northbound on SE 36th Avenue when, for reasons that are unknown, it veered onto the shoulder. A section of the vehicle then proceeded to strike the girl.

After the collision, the pickup truck fled northbound on SE 36th Avenue.

The girl was transported to a local hospital for treatment of “non-life-threatening injuries.”

An FHP trooper noted in the report that witnesses described the hit-and-run vehicle as a white four-door pickup truck that was towing a utility trailer.
