To the Editor:

Congrats to both the “no Costco” and “we need a Costco” advocates.

Costco, from what I have read, is going to be located at US Hwy 301 and County Rd 466. This is in Oxford and the west end of The Villages. It will be about 2 miles inside Sumter County and about a 35 min drive from downtown Ocala.

Marion County loses out on some great tax revenue and good jobs, but the Costco advocates get their store and for the “no Costco” advocates, Marion County is saved from invaders from The Villages spending their money in our county.

I guess we will have to be happy with more car washes, 7-Elevens, gas stations, and over-development. I wonder where the water will come from for all that, along with the increasing chance of sinkholes, potential flooding from new developments into existing developments, and, of course, more traffic for our already strained roads?
