A 30-year-old Silver Springs woman is facing assault and criminal mischief charges after she was accused of driving through a gate outside her ex-boyfriend’s home and attempting to hit him with her SUV.

On Saturday, November 9, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a residence located on NE Highway 314A in Silver Springs in reference to an altercation involving a former couple. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the male victim who advised that he owned the property where the incident occurred, according to the arrest report.

The victim advised that his former girlfriend, Lacie Lynn Martin, had texted him that night saying that she was “drunk” and trying to “get over (him).” The report stated that the victim then heard a loud knock at his front door, and when he opened it, he saw Martin sitting inside her red Jeep Compass.

According to the victim’s statement, Martin appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. After speaking with the victim, Martin allegedly reversed her SUV, backing into a light pole on the property.

The victim alleged that as he began walking down the driveway, Martin “accelerated towards him,” which caused him to “jump into the grass to avoid being hit.” Martin then drove away from the home, heading southbound on Highway 314A.

Shortly after Martin left the area, the victim noticed that his front gate was damaged due to his ex-girlfriend “driving through it.” In the report, the deputy noted that the damage to the gate and its opener was valued at approximately $2,600.

On Sunday, November 10, the deputy responded to a home located on SE 163rd Avenue Road in Silver Springs and made contact with Martin. After being read her Miranda rights, Martin stated she had been dating the victim when she discovered that he was in another relationship, according to the report.

Martin further advised that she drove to the victim’s home to “confront him.” The report stated that Martin remembered knocking on the victim’s front door, though she claimed she “did not remember” driving through the gate or trying to hit the victim with her SUV.

In the report, the deputy mentioned that Martin’s SUV was parked in front of her home, and it had damage to the front and rear bumpers that was “consistent with the damage caused to the victim’s property.”

Martin was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail, where she was released the following day on her own recognizance. She is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and criminal mischief with $1,000 or more in property damage.

A court date has been scheduled at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, according to jail records.
