A 54-year-old Ocala man was arrested outside a local Circle K after he allegedly began acting “erratically” while waving around a knife.
On Monday, November 11, at around 10 a.m., several Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Circle K located at 8664 SW 103rd Street in Ocala. Upon arrival at the convenience store, one of the deputies observed a man, identified as Adam Dale Arbuckle, who was walking in the parking lot.
The arrest report stated that a knife was “clearly visible” in a sheath attached to Arbuckle’s belt on his right hip. The deputy made contact with Arbuckle, disarmed him, and secured him in handcuffs.
At the convenience store, a manager told deputies that Arbuckle had purchased a scratch-off lottery ticket prior to the incident. Arbuckle then exited the store and stood by the entrance.
According to the manager’s statement, a customer soon entered the store and reported that a person outside was “holding a knife and acting erratically.” After calling 911, the manager exited the store and allegedly saw Arbuckle “waving the knife back and forth.”
The manager then told Arbuckle to “put the knife away” and leave the premises. Arbuckle allegedly responded by waving the knife in the manager’s direction while calling the manager a “fat (expletive).” The report stated that the manager was “frightened that (Arbuckle) could become violent.”
Moments later, the manager retreated inside the store. Arbuckle then put the knife away, and he allegedly made “rude gestures” towards the manager while walking away from the store.
After being read his Miranda rights, Arbuckle told investigators that he had bought lottery tickets at the store. When asked about the knife, Arbuckle allegedly ignored the question and claimed that he did nothing wrong, according to the report.
An MCSO corporal noted in the report that Arbuckle was “somewhat aggressive” and made “rambling statements” during the post-Miranda interview.
Arbuckle was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail, where he is currently being held on a $2,000 bond. He is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
