To the Editor:

Dear “We’re Here to Protect Everyone” Governors,

Look, I get it. It’s tough to be a Democrat governor right now. You’ve got a lot on your plate — “protecting” your citizens and all that. But here’s the thing: when you say you’re going to protect “your citizens” from federal immigration laws, let’s be clear — those laws are exclusively enforced by the feds, and the people you’re trying to “protect” aren’t actually citizens of this country or your state. Now, I realize that might come as a shock to some, so take a moment if you need it.

The Constitution — remember that dusty old document? — has a little thing called the Supremacy Clause. It says that federal law outranks state law. And when it comes to immigration, that’s a job for the federal government, not some “feel-good” state program. That means no matter how much you posture, grandstand, or insist that you’ll “protect” your residents, the law’s not on your side here. It’s a federal responsibility, plain and simple.

And here’s the real issue: by dismissing federal immigration enforcement, you’re turning a blind eye to the potential for violent crime. We’ve all seen the tragic, high-profile cases that came up during this election cycle, haven’t we? Crimes committed by individuals here illegally aren’t just campaign talking points — they’re real threats that have left families devastated. Pretending these threats don’t exist doesn’t protect your citizens; it endangers them.

Now, the new Border Czar — spoiler alert — doesn’t care about your feelings. They don’t need your approval, your help, or even your positive vibes. Federal law enforcement has the power to do its job, in every state, without a single wink of approval from you. So, governors, go ahead and keep grandstanding. The rest of us will be over here, watching the Border Czar do the job — no hand-holding from the states required.

Sincerely,
A Constitutionalist
