Online permits are available for individuals interested in getting up to five Christmas trees from the Ocala National Forest for $10 each.

Christmas tree permits are available at the forest through December 25, 2024. The permits allow visitors to cut a Christmas tree within designated areas of the Ocala National Forest.

The United States Forestry Service has provided several maps showing the designated areas within the forest.

“Do not cut on private land, in wilderness areas, designated campgrounds, or existing tree plantations,” reads a statement from the organization.

View the designated area maps through the government’s recreation website.

Visitors are limited to five trees, each a maximum of 40 feet tall. There are several instructions for those interested in removing trees.

“Take the whole tree. Do not remove the top of the tree; cut down the entire tree,” reads a post from the U.S. National Forest Service.

Although the trees within the Ocala National Forest are harvestable, the organization is advising visitors that they may not necessarily find “show-room quality trees” during their visit.
