Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Burgers in Ocala was temporarily closed for a day last week after 34 rat droppings were found in and around the kitchen during an inspection.

Located at 3558 SW College Road in Ocala, the restaurant was temporarily closed on Friday, November 22, after failing a health inspection conducted by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

According to the report, the fast food location was cited for at least four violations, including one considered high priority.

The report shows that the high-priority violation was for rodent activity. During the inspection, at least 16 rodent droppings were found on a floor under a sink, and another 18 were observed on a floor under a soda syrup shelf, according to the report.

Additionally, the report noted a basic violation for the top part of a dish machine being “heavily soiled.”

The restaurant was reinspected on Saturday, November 23, and was permitted to reopen when no violations remained.

The same Freddy’s location along one of Ocala’s busiest thoroughfares was the subject of another failed health inspection earlier this year. During that inspection in September, at least 12 roaches were found on a wall behind a triple sink area in the kitchen.
