There is heavy traffic along different stretches of Interstate 75 in Marion County today as shoppers continue celebrating the holiday week with Black Friday.
Traffic is backed up around mile marker 350 in both directions on the interstate as of 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 29.
Cameras from FL511.com, which is managed by the Florida Department of Transportation, show that stretch of congestion is one to two miles in length. Cameras at mile marker 349 also show that traffic is slow.
According to FDOT, there is also heavy congestion in the northbound lanes of the highway near mile marker 342.
That congestion reportedly stretches to beyond mile marker 343.
Although no reason was provided by FDOT for the congestion, Friday marks the busiest shopping day in the country, with millions expected to take advantage of Black Friday deals at retailers.
