Raymond Hunt, 97, of Ocala, Florida, passed away in his home on November 12, 2024.
Raymond was born in Newark, New Jersey on September 25, 1927 to parents Dorothy and William.

After graduating from Central High School in Newark, he served in the Army Air Core in
1945 where he was a chauffeur for the United Nations. Ray enjoyed reminiscing about his
experiences as a regular driver for Elenor Roosevelt during his service. Ray later enlisted in the Air Force where he served an additional four years as an aircraft refueler in the Korean War.

In 1972 Raymond relocated to Florida where he worked for Rohwedder Painting Incorporated for over fifteen years. Remarkably, following retirement, Ray went on to graduate from the Broward Sheriff’s Academy at sixty four years old. His ability to meet the rigorous physical requirements of the academy got the attention of the Sun Sentinel Newspaper who ran a feature article highlighting his accomplishment. He worked for the Broward County Sheriff system for several years before he and his wife, Connie, retired permanently in Ocala.

Ray is survived by his daughters Robin and Lynn, from his first wife, Doris, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on December 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepard Memorial Gardens, located at 5050 SW 20 Street, in Ocala.
