Holiday travelers, accidents, and disabled vehicles have created several miles of congestion along a stretch of Interstate 75 in Marion County on Saturday.

As of 6:15 p.m., the Florida Department of Transportation is reporting major congestion along I-75 north, from mile marker 350 to 354, and also from mile marker 330 to 345.

Additionally, there is traffic congestion along the 20-mile stretch on I-75 south from mile marker 361 to mile marker 341, according to FL511.com, which is maintained by FDOT.

State officials are also reporting at least three disabled vehicles along the roadway, with two located in the southbound shoulder near mile markers 345 and 368, and the third located in the northbound shoulder near mile marker 347.

Cameras maintained by FDOT show cars lined up for several miles along the highway.

The traffic on Saturday comes amidst several days of similar congestion due to holiday travel throughout the county and state.

On Friday, Ocala-News.com reported similar congestion along the interstate. Yesterday evening, multiple lanes of the highway were shut down after a 65-year-old man was killed in a fatal accident.
