Large stretches of Interstate 75 in Marion County have been experiencing heavy congestion this morning due to a multi-vehicle crash, as travelers continue to flood the interstate in the days following Thanksgiving.

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, a multi-vehicle crash occurred near mile marker 338 on I-75 south around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 1.

FDOT is reporting that traffic is backed up through at least mile marker 357 on the highway, and that the left lane has been blocked near the accident. A Road Ranger was on the scene as of 12:00 p.m.

Additional congestion is being reported along a 12-mile stretch of the northbound lanes of the highway, between mile marker 325 and mile marker 337.

The congestion follows several days of similar traffic due to the holiday and various accidents.

On Saturday evening, traffic was reported along various stretches of the highway’s northbound and southbound lanes in Marion County.

On Friday evening, a fatal accident briefly shut down all of the northbound lanes of the highway in Marion County.
