An 85-year-old woman was killed in a fatal accident on Wednesday while she was attempting to turn onto State Road 200 in southwest Ocala.
The fatal accident took place near the intersection of SR 200 and SW 73rd Street Road at around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11.
According to an accident report by the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was traveling west on SW 73rd Street Road, approaching a stop sign at the roadway’s intersection with SR 200.
After stopping her vehicle, the woman made a left turn onto SR 200.
At the same time, a truck being driven by a 57-year-old Marion County woman was traveling northbound, in the middle lane of SR 200.
As the elderly woman turned, her vehicle entered the direct path of the truck and was struck on the left side.
Both drivers were transported to HCA Ocala Regional Medical Center, where the elderly woman was pronounced deceased.
