A 43-year-old motorcyclist was killed after he drove his vehicle off a Marion County roadway and collided with a concrete mailbox on Friday.

The fatal accident occurred near the intersection of SE 183rd Avenue Road and SE 26th Street in Ocklawaha at around 12:20 a.m. on Friday, December 27.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was traveling northbound on SE 183rd Avenue Road, navigating a curve to the left that was just south of SE 26th Street.

For unknown reasons, the motorcycle ran off the roadway to the right and collided with a concrete mailbox and fence.

The driver, who was from Silver Springs, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No additional details are available regarding the fatal accident.

Less than 24 hours before the incident, another motorcyclist was killed in Marion County after an elderly woman turned into the path of his vehicle.
