Alberto Gregorio, 83, resident of Ocala, On Top of the World, was born in Havana, Cuba, on September 6, 1941, and died on January 4, 2025, peacefully at his home.

“Al” was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a great friend and an inspiration to many. He will be deeply missed by all of us whose lives he profoundly touched.

The son of Gregorio and Ines (Rubio) Briguera, Al immigrated with his parents to Miami in 1952. Al graduated from Miami High in 1959 and then went on to proudly serve his community with a storied law enforcement career at the Dade County Sheriff’s Office for 33 years. After retiring from the Metro-Dade Police Department as a Sergeant in 1993, Al worked at the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area office in Doral and finally finished his career at the Martin County Sheriff’s Office in 2002.

On November 25, 1961, he was married to Sandra Daniels Briguera in Miami. Mrs. Briguera, who predeceased him in August 2009, was a Dade County Federal Credit Union Executive Board Member. In 2001, Al & Sandie moved to Ocala from Port St. Lucie with their lifelong friends, who became family, Connie and Joe Cameron.

Al was a lifelong member of the South Florida Police Benevolent Association. He was a member of the Retired Police Officers Council, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, The Mahi Shriners, Corvette Club of Marion County, On Top of the World R/C Flying Club, and was an Amateur General Radio Service operator.

Al is survived by his daughter, Diana (Stephen) Clot of Miami, FL; grandson, Joshua (Roxanne) Clot of Miami, FL; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jackson, and Hudson; son, Gregory Briguera of Altamonte Springs, FL; grandchildren, Amanda (Michael) Daniels, Andrew, Leann, Tyler; great-granddaughter, Payton; and sister, Margarita (Charles) Clute of Bostic, NC.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Roberts of Ocala West Chapel, 6241 SW St Rd 200, Ocala, FL.

A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 6455 SW State Rd 200, Ocala, FL, with Father Shenoy officiating. Interment will take place at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens, 5050 SW 20th St, Ocala, FL 34474, after church services conclude at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to The Woman’s Cancer Association of the University of Miami, 1350 W. Flagler St, Miami, FL 33135.
