Construction site in Ocala, Marion County in 2024

To the Editor:

I agree with Ms. Herrmann. You would think the way the residents who live off State Road 200 in the retirement subdivisions either never had to drive anywhere before they moved here, or they came from some town that maybe had one traffic light.

I was born in Ocala 76 years ago and only lived in another county for three years. I live on the southeast side of town and in the subdivision where I live, there are so many new residents who bought their homes without coming to check out the area.

I think that must be what most of the residents on SR 200 did.

If you are retired, you must learn to slow down. Enjoy your retirement and the beautiful area you have moved to.

To our County commission and City council, I ask that you look at all empty buildings that could be modified and used instead of cutting down trees and building new. This should apply to homes, also.

You continue to give permits for more business and homes but you save no land for roads. Please think about new roads before you give out anymore permits.
