A new Mexican restaurant is taking over a commercial space in east Ocala that previously housed a short-lived taproom and eatery.
Mi Familia Mexicana Restaurant is renovating its new space at 4901 E Silver Springs Boulevard, Suite 502 & 503, within Six Gun Plaza. The restaurant replaces The Sunny Pint, which opened its doors in September 2023 and permanently closed in June 2024.
The new restaurant is owned by Alfredo Vieyra, Jr., according to state corporate records. There is currently no information available on the restaurant’s menu or opening date.
“Mexican family owned. Real Mexican. Real Love,” reads the restaurant’s Instagram biography.
Mi Familia Mexicana Restaurant will join at least four new Mexican restaurants that have opened in Ocala over the past year:
- El Rinconcito Mexican Grill & Cantina
- El PatrĂ³n Mexican Grill and Bar
- La Catrina Cocina Mexicana
- My Quate Taste-Mex
The new Mexican restaurant is also one of several new businesses that have opened at Six Gun Plaza in recent years.
That includes Stoner’s Pizza Joint, which opened its first location in Ocala within the plaza in late July, as well as More Than Games, Sandy’s Shack Imported Wine & Beer, Mattress By Appointment, and pOpshelf.
