Despite Trader Joe’s announcement that it will open at least 12 new locations early in 2025 after the chain opened over 30 more stores last year, none of those new locations will be in or around Ocala and Marion County.
At the beginning of the year, the California-based grocery store chain announced the addition of 12 new stores scattered across the United States.
All of the stores will “open soon” in California (3), Washington (2), Tennessee, Pennsylvania, New York, Alabama, Maryland, and Washington, DC (2).
Although the 12 represent all of the stores announced, it is not a complete list of the stores that Trader Joe’s plans to open this year. The company regularly updates its website with new locations “opening soon.”
According to ProgressiveGrocer.com, Trader Joe’s opened approximately 34 locations across the United States in 2024, including a new location in Alpharetta, Georgia, on December 13, 2024.
As of last month, Trader Joe’s operates around 600 stores across the United States, with over 200 of those based in California.
There are 24 Trader Joe’s locations in the state of Florida, with those closest to Ocala located in Gainesville, Orlando, and Winter Park.
Earlier this month, Costco announced that it was opening several new locations in March. Although that grocery chain also opted to skip over Ocala and Marion County for its next batch of warehouses, it is building a new location in The Villages that will only be around 30 to 45 minutes from most of Ocala.
