The sole pOpshelf store in Ocala and Marion County is currently selling its entire inventory at heavily discounted rates ahead of its permanent closure next month, just weeks after the departure of Bealls from the same plaza.
Management confirmed that the pOpshelf store located in Six Gun Plaza (4901 E Silver Springs Blvd) will officially close its doors on July 14.
Ahead of the closure, all merchandise in the store has been marked down by at least 50% or more as part of a final liquidation sale to clear out the remaining inventory.
The pOpshelf brand is a retail chain that has expanded across the country over the last several years. According to recent industry data from April, pOpshelf operates 180 stores across 21 states in the United States.
The Six Gun Plaza location served as the brand’s only footprint within Ocala and Marion County. The state with the highest concentration of the retail stores is Texas, which boasts 48 locations. In Florida, the brand maintains 13 locations, including stores in Daytona, Deland, Kissimmee, and Lakeland.
Founded in 2020 by Dollar General, the pOpshelf brand was created to attract a more affluent demographic that generally doesn’t shop at the company’s dollar stores. The stores sell seasonal and home decor, party supplies, beauty products, and arts and crafts, and about 95% of the merchandise cost less than $5.
The upcoming departure of pOpshelf marks the second major retail closure at Six Gun Plaza in recent months.
The Bealls Florida department store permanently closed its doors earlier this spring after initiating a massive liquidation sale of its own.

Despite the recent loss of both pOpshelf and Bealls, the local retail landscape at Six Gun Plaza has also seen several new additions over the last five years.
Recent businesses to join the plaza or its immediate vicinity include Dutch Bros., Mi Familia Mexican Restaurant, Stoner’s Pizza Joint, More Than Gaming, and Sandy’s Shack Imported Wine and Beer. The plaza also houses popular local social media influencer, Ocala Mattress Guy.
