Senate resolution creates First Responders Mental Health Awareness Day

A press conference is planned for Monday, May 10 to pay special tribute to first responders across Florida.

Sen. Keith Perry and Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, Jimmy Patronis, will hold the event to present Senate Resolution 618, which will officially recognize May 10 as First Responders Mental Health Awareness Day.

“We must recognize the importance of supporting our First Responders, who selflessly put the lives of others above their own every day and bring awareness to the higher risk of mental health illnesses they are at risk of due challenging nature of their jobs,” Perry said. “Join me in recognizing the members of law enforcement, firefighters and emergency medical personnel who work tirelessly to protect the people of Florida. We will work to improve the mental health care, lives and support for First Responders and their families.”

The event will take place Monday at 2 p.m. at the Florida State Fire Collage, located at 11655 NW Gainesville Rd. in Ocala.
