Ocala man arrested with marijuana purchased from dispensary by friend

An Ocala man was arrested after he was stopped and found with marijuana that was purchased through a dispensary by his friend.

An Ocala Police Department officer was conducting a routine patrol near Laurel Park Apartments and observed a dark gray BMW with a material covering the license plate. The officer stopped the driver, Jose Rivera, and the officer reported he could smell raw marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

The officer searched the vehicle and found a small plastic bag with a green leafy substance in it. In the trunk, the officer found a brown shopping back labeled “Stoneo.” The bag also stated it had 500 milligrams of THC. A sealed purple bag labeled “Dark Gummies” and read on the front “cannabis infused” was also located, according to the incident report.

Due to the findings and Rivera not having a valid marijuana medical card, Rivera was arrested, and the green leafy substance tested positive for THC. Rivera admitted the bags found in the trunk were “edibles.” Rivera claimed he had a friend purchase them for him from a medical marijuana dispensary in Ocala, according to the report.

Rivera was transported to the Marion County Jail on June 5 where he was booked without incident. Rivera was charged with drug possession and marijuana possession not more than 20 grams.
