Crews from Ocala Fire Rescue scrambled to a vehicle fire late Wednesday afternoon that threatened fuel pumps at a gas station.

Firefighters were called to the blaze in the 2500 block of E. Silver Springs Boulevard shortly after 4 p.m. Crews arrived to find a pickup truck with its engine compartment engulfed in flames, parked a few yards away from fuel pumps at a gas station.

Firefighters secured the scene and began battling the flames. The fire was completely extinguished within five minutes. No injuries were reported. Officers from the Ocala Police Department and crews from Marion County Fire Rescue also responded to the incident.

Ocala firefighters say it’s important to know what to do if your vehicle catches fire. They say you should stop the vehicle, turn off the ignition, step away and call 911 immediately.

The passenger compartment of this pickup was destroyed Wednesday when a fire broke out in the engine area of the vehicle.
