An Ocala man was arrested after allegedly stalking a woman Sunday evening.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to S. Pine Avenue on Saturday in reference to a citizens assist, according to an arrest report. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the victim who advised that Roderick Alvarado Salgado of Ocala has been making unwanted contact with her over the phone for the past couple of days, the report stated. The victim advised she told Salgado to stop contacting her several times in the past couple of days leading up to Sunday. The victim advised that on Sunday, she told Salgado to stop contacting her at 2:04 p.m. and that contact from him was unwanted. Salgado attempted to make contact with the victim approximately 49 times and at no time did he have a legitimate reason to contact the victim other than to harass her.

Deputies observed incoming phone calls from Salgado’s number several times while collecting information from the victim. A deputy answered the victim’s phone and asked for his first name, in which Salgado replied “Roderick,” and the deputy advised Salgado to stop contacting the victim because his actions were unwanted by the victim. Salgado hung up on the deputy. The deputy left the victim with her phone and came back to the victim approximately five minutes later when the victim advised Salgado had contacted her a couple more times on her phone. The deputy made contact with Salgado’s phone number via the agency’s phone and advised him of the allegations against him. The deputy asked Salgado if he would be willing to meet at their location to give a written statement on his side of the story. Approximately 20 minutes later, Salgado met with the deputy. Based on the statements made from the victim and the deputy’s own observations of Salgado making unwanted contact with the victim, the deputy placed Salgado under arrest and transported him to the Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $5,000.
