Walter Henry Scott, Jr

Walter Henry Scott, Jr., 87, passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2018 in the loving care of his family.
Affectionately known to family and friends as ‘Bugs,’ Walter was born in Philadelphia and spent most of his life in Florida. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1947, serving in Guam and the Philippines, then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he met his wife, Dorothy. The two were married in 1951 at Cherry Point, NC. A man of his word who believed a handshake was better than a contract.
Walter is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Hallenbeck Scott of Silver Springs, FL; his three daughters, Sharon Christensen of Lawton, OK, Susan Scott Moran (John) of Evergreen Park, IL, and Sandy Scott of Silver Springs, FL; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Marion County, FL or to the Forest United Methodist Church, Silver Springs, FL. Funeral services for Walter will be held on Friday, April 6th at 10:00am in the Forest United Methodist Church, with a reception at the church. Interment will follow the reception in Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the care of Roberts of Ocala’s Downtown Chapel, 606 SW 2nd Ave, Ocala, FL 34471.
