Marian Billings

Marian ‘Maggie’ Billings

Marian ‘Maggie’ Billings, 86, passed away on March 28, 2018 with her family at her side in Ocala, Florida. Maggie was born to the late Harry and Elsie Spaulding in Stamford, NY on July 5, 1931. She moved to Ocala, Florida over 65 years ago and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Reddick. Maggie attended The University of Florida where she graduated with a bachelors degree in education in 1957. Needless to say, Maggie was an avid Gator fan and alumni.
Mrs. Billings was a profound teacher who taught for the Marion County School Board for about 40 years. Maggie’s journey with her career began at Ocala High school and ended at North Marion Middle School in 1996. In fact, Mrs. Billings was the first physical education teacher to open up North Marion Middle School in 1974 and she played a significant part in developing the physical education program. During summer breaks, Maggie spent her time at the beach soaking up the sun, ruby mining in the mountains, traveling abroad, or fishing at a lake with her family. Also, Maggie had a passion for bowling, playing bingo, picking roses and wildflowers, and there was never a day she was without her word search and crossword puzzles. May Maggie find comfort in the hands of angels, she will be missed.
Maggie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Lewis Billings, Sr.
She is survived by two daughters, Melinda Hamm (Cecil) of Ocala, Valerie Matheson of Ocala; son, Robert Lewis Billings, Jr. (Beth) of Ft. McCoy; sister, Sandra Richardson of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew, Kaylee, Taylor, Adam, Aubrey, Trey and Brad; great grandchildren: Emma, Easton, Weston, Myla Rose, Allison, and Caitlyn
Visitation will be Saturday April 7, 2018 10am -11am followed by funeral 11am both at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home 954 E. Silver Springs Blvd Ocala, FL 34470. Interment will be in Millwood Cemetery Reddick, FL.
