Prominent attorney in The Villages arrested after found sleeping in car at intersection

Eric Millhorn

A prominent attorney in The Villages was arrested early this morning after he was found sleeping in his SUV at an intersection.

Eric Millhorn, 45, of Oxford, was found at 2:12 a.m. asleep in his black utility vehicle at the intersection of County Road 462 and County Road 209 in Wildwood, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The SUV was stopped facing northbound at the stop bar with the headlights on and engine running. Millhorn’s head was down with his chin on his chest and his eyes closed and “was clearly sleeping,” the deputy wrote in the arrest report.

For a full minute, the deputy knocked on the window trying to rouse the founder of the Millhorn Law Firm, which specializes in elder law. Millhorn eventually sat up and unlocked the door. The deputy had to ask six times for Millhorn’s driver’s license.

During field sobriety exercises, Millhorn was “stumbling heavily and swaying” and “almost fell over.”  A breathalyzer test showed readings of .209 and .198 blood alcohol content.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released at 11:32 a.m. after posting $1,000 bond.
