Native New Yorker charged with sexually assaulting 12-year-old girl

William Jesus Rosado

A New York native who moved to Florida in July is being held on $250,000 bond in the Marion County Jail after being accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl in his household.

William Jesus Rosado, 38, of Ocala, was arrested at his home Tuesday night and charged with sexual battery by a family member or custodial authority after the victim described the abuse to a case coordinator at Kimberly’s Center for Child Protection.

The victim said the abuse started in July when she came to Florida with Rosado and her brother while her mother stayed back for a couple months to finish school. She said Rosado came into her bedroom at night on multiple occasions and touched her under her clothes and performed sex acts on her. She said the abuse happened as recently as a week ago when Rosado came into her room while her family was sleeping and touched her.

The victim’s mother told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Rosado does get up in the middle of the night but she did not believe he was doing inappropriate sex acts with the girl.

Rosado was arrested after he declined to answer the deputy’s questions. His next court appearance was set for Jan. 15.
