After a nearly yearlong investigation, the Leesburg Police Department has identified two men wanted in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left an Ocala man dead.
The early morning incident, which happened on March 9, 2018 at the Leesburg mall, left 27-year-old Michael Roberts dead. He was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center from Via Entertainment and later succumbed to his injuries.
After a thorough investigation, the Leesburg Police Department’s Traffic Unit obtained arrest warrants for Tyrone Trammel Isaac and Tevin Devon Roberts. A witness who was in the rented silver Chevrolet Silverado pickup when it struck Roberts and 26-year-old Matthew Wilkerson, of Citra, said she and another woman had planned to attend a party at the mall with Isaac and Roberts. She said they never went inside for the event but stayed in the truck in the parking lot, where a large crowd had gathered.
The woman said Isaac was standing on the footrail when he started “bouncing” the truck. She said front-seat passenger Tevin Roberts then put his foot over and struck the gas. She said he would alternate between the gas and brake pedals before the truck eventually hit an “island” in the parking lot where multiple people were standing, a Leesburg Police report states, adding that Wilkerson’s leg was stuck under the right rear tire when officers arrived.
Both Isaac and Tevin Roberts are wanted on warrants for vehicular manslaughter. The warrant points out that both fled the scene and neither offered to render aid to the victims.
Leesburg Police haven’t been able to locate either of the suspects and believe they have left the area.
