Ocala Main Street names new community-oriented executive director

Jessica Marr

The Ocala Main Street Board of Directors has hired a new executive director.

In her new role, Jessica Marr will lead the organization’s efforts to foster growth at the heart of the community, working to revitalize downtown Ocala. With seven years of communications experience in both the private and public sector, Jessica has worked with local, state and national leaders to serve community needs.

“We are delighted to have Jessica part of our team at Ocala Main Street and believe OMS is in a great position to carry on its mission with her leadership,” said Board President Angie Lester. “Having a personal passion for the arts and an eagerness for the growth of Ocala’s downtown, Jessica will bring a fresh energy to Ocala Main Street.”

Marr said she’s excited about her new role and looks forward to working with the group’s boards of directors to enhance the experience of businesses, residents and visitors in the downtown area of Ocala.

“From the arts and local businesses to our equestrian community and the many springs and trails, Ocala is unique in all that it offers,” Marr said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to help our downtown be a reflection of that uniqueness.”

Marr earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Political Science from Florida State University. Board members said her organic interest in economic development, involvement in a variety of community organizations and efforts and love for Ocala makes her a great fit for the role as executive director.
