A Belleview man with numerous previous arrests was charged with domestic battery after a physical altercation with his father in their mobile home.

Belleview Police responded to a disturbance Thursday at the Golden Oaks Mobile Home Park, 4900 SE 102nd Place, where the victim reported that Dirk Augustus Gentile, 28, came home intoxicated and started a verbal argument with him. The victim said Gentile pushed him into cabinets and slapped him with an open hand, according to the police report.

An officer observed a laceration on the victim’s hand and blood on his shirt. The victim said he wasn’t sure what exactly caused the laceration but that it occurred when Gentile pushed him into the cabinets. Gentile’s grandmother, who also lives at the residence, said she saw Gentile push the victim into the cookie sheets in the cabinet, the report said.

The officer who interviewed Gentile noted he smelled strongly of alcohol and had blood on his shirt. Gentile said he had returned home to get a lighter and when he arrived, the victim told him to shut up. He said he was trying to take a shower and the victim wouldn’t leave him alone. Gentile also said his cell phone was inside and he wanted to get it so he could go to work, according to the report.

According to Marion County Jail records, Gentile has 11 previous arrests dating back to 2010, including one in 2011 for battery on a person over 65 and preventing the use of 911. He was jailed twice in 2018 – once for trespassing and the other for aggravated assault and marijuana possession.

Gentile was taken to the Marion County Jail. He’s being held on $20,000 bond and will appear in Marion County Court on July 9.
