Price-tag-swapping Fort McCoy woman jailed after Wal-Mart escapade

A Fort McCoy woman who allegedly swapped prices on multiple Wal-Mart items and then concealed others in a blue hot/cold bag found herself behind bars on Thursday.

Kim Theresa Terlikowski, 62, of Fort McCoy, was arrested Thursday night at the Wal-Mart at 4980 E Silver Springs Blvd. and charged with retail petit theft and trespass after warning.

A loss prevention officer at the store, located at 4980 E Silver Springs Blvd., told an Ocala Police officer on Thursday night that she saw 62-year-old Kim Theresa Terlikowski select several items and place them inside the Sams/Wal-Mart/hot/cold bag. She said she also saw Terlikowski switch the prices on a weighted blanket valued at $49.97 and a mop valued at $29.97 for cheaper-priced items. And she added that the price tag on a fruit tray valued at $12.88 was switched with a similar item of cheaper value, a police report states.

The loss prevention officer said Terlikowski then went through a self-checkout lane, rang up the items with incorrect price tags and paid for some of the merchandise – but not the ones concealed in the hot/cold bag, the report says.

The loss prevention officer said Terlikowski then exited the store and she confronted her and escorted her back inside. She said all of the stolen items, valued at $191.71, were recovered and Terlikowski admitted to switching the price tags, though she claimed the fruit tray already had the wrong price on it, the report says.

Terlikowski also admitted to the officer that she switched the price tags and didn’t pay for the items in the hot/cold bag. But she again denied switching the price on the fruit tray, the report says.

A criminal records check showed that Terlikowski had been trespassed from the Wal-Mart on Oct. 28, 2015. She notified the officer that she had a handgun in her purse and a concealed weapons permit, which was valid.

Terlikowski was then transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with retail petit theft (second offense) and trespass after warning. She was released Friday morning and no future court date has yet been set.

After Terlikowski was arrested, the officer took her handgun, a six-round magazine and six rounds of .380 ammunition and placed them all into evidence. He then completed a work order for the items to be released to Terlikowski when she was discharged from the jail.
