A Belleview man admitted he “lost control” and bit his girlfriend during a nasty domestic confrontation last week.

Jose Luciano Hernandez Rodriguez, 49, was charged with simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened Tuesday night at the residence where he lives with the victim. Hernandez and the victim have a child together.

Hernandez Rodriguez told a Belleview Police officer that he was in his room when the victim approached him and started an argument. He said he lost control and they got into a physical scuffle before he bit her on her back, according to the police report.

The victim said she arrived at the residence from her mother’s house when Hernandez Rodriguez started verbally attacking him. She said he started to beat on her with his fists and they were involved in a back-and-forth scuffle when he bit her on the back. The victim said she was feeling a lot of pain throughout her whole body and that she was in fear for her safety, the report said.

The officer observed a large purple bruise on the victim’s back and teeth marks around the bruise. The injuries were consistent with her statement that Hernandez Rodriguez bit her, according to the report.

Hernandez Rodriguez was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he’s being held on $1,500 bond. He’ll appear in Marion County Court on Dec. 27.
