Three major car rental agencies recently signed leases to continue doing business at Ocala International Airport to the tune of about $1.48 million.
The City Council gave its blessings to the three contracts totaling about $492,625 annually. The leases all are for three years and were inked with Avis Budget Rental Car LLC, Enterprise Leasing Co. of Florida LLC and the Hertz Corp. Those companies all have been doing business at the airport for more than 15 years.
All three leases take into account use of expanded parking lot spaces, a new car wash facility and space inside the new terminal. The three-year agreements are for 10 percent of each company’s gross sales – minus insurance-related rentals – capped at 35 percent.
The agreement with Avis Budget will bring in the most revenue – about $191,300 annually in rent and fees. The company has done business at the airport since 2003 and occupies 356 square feet of office space. The firm’s overall gross sales equaled more than $1.85 million over the past 12 months.
Avis Budget will be allotted 23 general parking spots and 18 ready/return lot spaces. The company also will have space to store about 25 cars or trucks. But it won’t be allowed to park its large rental trucks on the paved areas in front of the new terminal building.
The pact with Enterprise, which has been at the airport since 2002 and occupies 364 square feet of office space, is for about $176,535 annually in rent and fees. The company’s overall gross sales over the past year was more than $2.54 million.
Enterprise will have access to 21 general parking spots and 17 ready/return places. The company also will be allotted enough space to store about 50 vehicles.
The agreement with Hertz Corp., which has been at the airport since 2004 and occupies 355 square feet of office space, is for $124,790 annually in rent and fees. The agency’s overall gross sales for the past 12 months equaled more than $1.17 million.
Hertz will be allotted 14 general parking spaces and 10 ready/return spots. The company also will be given access to an area large enough to store about 25 cars.
