Amazon identified as tenant of mega-warehouse in Ocala commerce park

E-Commerce giant Amazon has been identified as the tenant of a large warehouse in the Ocala/Marion County Commerce Park.

Known as Project Needles for quite some time, the mega-company was identified on a building permit that was pulled by CFL Ocala Property LLC. The permit is for the installation of interior storage racks in the existing warehouse at 3400 NW 35th Street Rd., which will be used as a distribution center.

The work entails 255,375 square feet inside the warehouse. The total value of the rack installation is about $3.5 million and the architect/engineer is Sal E. Fateen, of Seizmic Inc.

Amazon is joining FedEx, Chewy and AutoZone in the roughly 500-acre commerce park, which is located north of U.S. Hwy. 27 and east of Interstate 75. The technology company is based in Seattle and has about 750,000 employees. It is considered one of the “Big Four” tech companies alongside Microsoft, Apple and Google and is the world’s largest online marketplace, the second largest employer in the United States and the largest internet company by revenue in the world.
