Ocala firefighters battled a blaze Saturday morning that heavily damaged a building at the Steeples Apartments on SW 41st Street.

Crews from Ocala Fire Rescue were called to battle a blaze at an apartment complex Saturday morning.

Ocala firefighters battled a blaze Saturday morning that heavily damaged a building at the Steeples Apartments on SW 41st Street.
Ocala firefighters were joined by their colleagues from Marion County Fire Rescue and officers from the Ocala Police Department when flames damaged a building at the Steeples Apartments late Saturday morning.

Firefighters received reports of the fire at Steeples Apartments, located at 2901 SW 41st St., at 11:53 a.m. Engines 3, 4 and 7, Rescue 4, Squad 7, Tower 1, a battalion chief and a safety officer responded to the blaze and upon arrival found smoke and flames coming from the rear of Building 2000.

The fire crews completed a primary search and began attacking the flames that had engulfed the living areas and porches of the first- and second-floor rear-corner units. The fire was contained to two units and deemed under control at 12:19 p.m.

There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Residents of all eight apartments within the fire-damaged building were temporarily relocated to other units on site. The Ocala Police Department, Marion County Fire Rescue and the Red Cross also responded to the incident.

Residents of all eight units at the Steeples Apartments who were displaced by a Saturday morning fire were moved to other units on the property.
