A man who was hit by a CSX train in Ocala late Monday afternoon has died.
The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Eric Bennett, of Ocala. He had been trauma alerted to Ocala Regional Medical Center after being pinned beneath the train at 500 NW 4th Ave.
Crews from Ocala Fire Rescue arrived at the incident at 4:43 p.m. and rendered care to Bennett until he was extricated from underneath the train at 5:01 p.m. They were joined on scene by Marion County firefighters and officers from the Ocala Police Department.
Bennett was believed to have been jogging on the tracks before he was hit. No other injuries were reported.
