‘Legacy’ art piece purchased for City of Ocala in late police chief’s memory

An artistic fiberglass horse has been purchased for the City of Ocala in honor of the late police chief Greg Graham.

The Chief Greg Graham Legacy Foundation purchased ‘Legacy,’ a fiberglass horse painted by artist Derek Grimsley, in honor of the city’s late police chief who was killed in a plane crash near Dunnellon on October 25, 2020.

The foundation wishes to donate the art piece to the City of Ocala to be accepted into the city’s public art collection, and it would be on display at Ocala Police Department headquarters.

‘Legacy’ is valued at $30,000 and requires routine maintenance which includes washing and waxing every four months, paint touch-up, fissure crack repairs, and a full re-coating every three years.

The acceptance of the donation will go before the Ocala City Council members for approval during the regular meeting on Tuesday, January 4.

The Ocala City Council meets at 5 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of every month at the Ocala City Hall, which is located at 110 SE Watula Avenue in downtown Ocala.
