A 5-year-old boy from Jennings was critically injured after a vehicle struck him on County Road 143 in Hamilton County on Monday evening.
At around 7 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash on County Road 143 near Mary Street in Jennings. A vehicle had collided with a 5-year-old boy who was riding a bicycle, and the unknown driver fled the scene.
The child was transported in critical condition to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
According to the FHP incident report, the suspect’s vehicle is believed to be a 2011-2014 Ford Edge, and the vehicle should have damage to the front headlight assembly on the passenger’s side. The color of the vehicle is unknown.
