A female pedestrian was killed on State Road 200 in Citrus County on Saturday morning after she was struck by a pickup truck driven by an Ocala man.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report, a 50-year-old woman from Hernando was walking on State Road 200, north of E Wagon Trail, at around 6:25 a.m. A 33-year-old Ocala man was also traveling southbound on State Road 200 in a pickup truck.
The driver saw the pedestrian walking in the roadway. Despite the driver’s attempts to avoid a collision, the pickup truck hit the pedestrian.
The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. No injuries were reported for the driver of the pickup truck.
The names of the driver and pedestrian were not released, per FHP policy.
