Employees evacuated after structure catches fire at Hydrologic

Employees at Hydrologic were safely evacuated on Wednesday evening after an exterior wall caught on fire.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., Ocala Fire Rescue responded to reports of a commercial structure fire at Hydrologic (1417 SW 17th Street). Upon arrival, OFR units consisting of Engines 1, 3, and 4, Rescue 1, Tower 1, a Safety Officer, and Battalion Chiefs 11 and 22 observed flames on the back of a semi-truck, a dumpster, and part of an exterior wall.

Crew members from Engine 1 and Rescue 1 began battling the fire on the back of the semi-truck. Within three minutes, the flames were extinguished.

The crew members moved to the dumpster fire with Engine 4’s fire suppression support, and they attacked the dumpster and wall fire simultaneously.

A structural search was completed, and firefighters ascended a ladder to check the roof of the building for any signs of a fire. According to OFR, the flames were extinguished in all three areas by 5:42 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

The Ocala Police Department also responded.
